Just a few moments in my day that I am forced to laugh at. If I don't laugh I might just be looney! Ha! Tired after a day of reading MANY MANY books with my son (that was pretty much the only way to keep him content that day), and catching up on laundry from our weekend of play at the beach. I defaulted to breakfast for dinner. It happens to be one of our favorites. I feel bad for Jase because most days he gets home so late that he eats dinner 2 hours past fresh. I get dinner ready in time for Harlon to eat in an attempt to develop his tastes beyond PB and J, grilled cheese, and yogurt. Anyway, it was quick and simple. Pan roasted baby red potatoes, scrambled eggs with sausage,
and of course whole wheat toast with our new obsession, Fowler's Texas Cream Honey. Seriously people, it is delightful! And we're almost out (that was a subtle hint to my wonderful mother-in-law).
The dinner preparations went something like this. To start with I had a cute, blond little helper standing on the kitchen chair which was pushed up against the counter. The blondie was having some water and peanut butter pretzel sandwiches. Life is good. He was over the snack very quickly so we moved on to wooden spoons and a few spices on the counter. All too quickly the spoons were on the floor with the spices.
Next, he's down on the floor opening a drawer with kitchen utensils in it. I bet you can guess what happens next...most of the contents in the drawer ended up on the floor after some music making.
While emptying the contents of the drawer, blondie here finds a neat little toddler sized plastic cup that really needs some water. So practices his skills of drinking out of the cup while spilling on floor and down the front of himself.
Oh, and once he realized that he needs mamas help to fill the cup with water the meltdown begins! I know this is evil but I couldn't resist capturing this moment. If you are blondie's Nanny or Gramma your heart is breaking right now, I know you! Ha!
It all worked out well as my little kitchen helper ate a healthy serving of eggs and potatoes with a little toast. Oh, the drama! Somedays is cracks me up and other days it's too much to take. Gotta love this kid.
He had a great time with his sitter Betsy this morning while I got a chance to run a couple errands and have lunch with a friend.
