Well, I am officially a gDiaper failure. We had leak after leak after leak over the last 2 days. With each leak came my adjusting the gDiaper to prevent the next leak. They just kept leaking. Leaking out the top, at the legs, leaking, leaking, leaking. The dirty ones were actually very easy to deal with. I'm pretty sure that leaks will happen with this kind of cloth hybrid diaper unless you change your baby the instant they pee. I guess I'm used waiting every 2 or so hours before changing Harlon in a disposable. Also, they clogged my toilet.
My reading on the Internet and discussing with Jase continues. So far I find from the Huggies website that only 1.5% of trash in the landfills is diapers. Diaper companies are constantly trying to make the products more planet friendly. I contemplated cloth for the afternoon. The thought is still in the back of my mind but for now I'm going to be one of those moms that harms the earth with diapers. Just like a friend said to me, "I'm helping the earth by only have 2 kids instead of 18."
My questions remain...am I harming Harlon's health by using diapers that have inks and dyes and chlorine bleach in them? I'm not educated enough to say yes or no. I constantly hear, "yes you are" but everything I hear is correlation not causation. Frankly, correlation is not enough of a reason for me. Are cloth diapers more cost effective by the time you flush the poo, soak, wash, and dry? Some charts say yes but how accurate is a chart from a cloth diaper company? Doing my research only on the Internet my questions still remain questions.
Way too much information, I know! Disposable diapers it is!

Why all this diaper madness? Is this something that you have always been passionate about or did someone or something change your mind? I guess I'm not helping the Earth any by having 4 kids! I drive a gas guzzling, ozone harming SUV & use disposable diapers :) I do what I can with what resources I have to do my part to make this a better place for all my boys to grow up in and hopefuly live long healthy lives. I'm at peace with that. If disposable diapers is the way you go, for now, that's just fine. You are a good green friend and a great green mommy :o)
I've always kind of wanted to try cloth diapers. Now that I've had the ease of disposable for 9 months I figured these crazy gDiapers might be good. Yeah, not so much. In the back back back of my mind I still think I may try cloth. Oh I don't know! I drive a big gas hog and I only have 1! So much for being green! LOL!
