The kids and I checked out of all reality today. We packed up and headed for the beach. Yeah, we saw turtles. 6 awesome, graceful, peaceful, Hawaii Green Turtles! Seriously, 6! They swam right up to us.
Harlon had a piece of seaweed and he fearlessly held it there while the turtle took it from his fingers. So cool! Harlon was great. He didn't try to touch them or chase them.
I think the turtles get fed a lot on this beach so they would just swim right up to you. It took me a while to get used to it. I didn't want my toe to be mistaken for lunch. Ha!
Honu! They are my favorite! If they remain untouched by humans they grow a coat of algae on their shells for protection. Yeah, our surroundings were perfect as usual! I still pinch myself over 2 years later that I can drive 20 minutes on a week day and spend my day like this.
Hawaii is making a beach baby out of this little girl. She is wimpy like her momma but she is coming around.
Harlon was fascinated and very respectful of the turtles. This was my first time taking both kids to the beach by myself. We all did great, it was so much fun!
POKE!
Harlon was swimming like a sea turtle as we were ready to leave. He could have stayed all day but baby sister was almost asleep standing up.
