Judd Trail

We headed right from church yesterday to try a 1 mile or so hike with the kids.  We found a used Kelty Kids pack for Addie Mae to ride in on Craigslist for $50!  It is like brand new!  We ate our picnic lunch in the truck on the drive to the trail, we were all pretty hungry after church.
The trail was in the thick forrest off the Pali Hwy.  It was beautiful and parts of it were right along a stream with pools and waterfalls.  It rained a bit since it's in the mountains.  At one point we had to cross the stream.  Yeah, I was a little nervous about that one.  Jase carrying Addie Mae in the pack and me trying to get myself and Harlon across.  Jase and Addie Mae did just fine. Harlon and I made it but we both got a little wet and muddy, HA!  We had a great time though.
Harlon was picking up all the sticks he could fine.  There were parts of the forrest that were thick with bamboo, it was pretty cool to see.
Harlon was such a trooper!  I think he talked the entire time and it took us about 2 or so hours to do the trail.  He kept saying he was going to see a moose.  :)
Parts of the trail were nice like this and other parts were all tree roots.  Harlon was SO dirty and wet at the end.  I had to keep telling him that it is fun to be dirty sometimes!  There were a couple times throught the hike that he was saying to me, "We're never going home again, our home is gone!"  Poor guy was pretty tired about half way through.
We stopped for a bit to feed Addie Mae and have a drink.
This is what most of it looked like.  Streams, and thick lush forrest.  It was so beautiful.  There were only mosquitos in the parts that were away from the stream so we didn't get eaten up too bad.
About 3/4 of the way through Harlon was saying to me "I'm all done with the jungle momma, I want to go home now."  I just kept telling him what a good hiker he was and he would say, "yeah, I'm a good hiker."  That seemed to get him through without a major meltdown.
Dirty, wet and tired but still happy!  It was a great day, we are looking forward to finding more easy hikes we can do on the island.
