Such a busy and fun weekend we had! Saturday night we left Harlon with his new babysitter (he did wonderful by the way) and headed to the 110th Submarine Birthday Ball. I of course forgot my camera but someone at our table managed to remember so I was able to get a couple pics for memories.
We had a great time blowing off some steam with friends, drinks, dinner and a little dancing.
It made for a late night and a very early morning as Harlon woke up bright and cheery at his usual 7am.
So we drug our slow moving butts out of bed to give Harlon his Easter basket. Buddy wanted to make sure y'all knew that he was there too! Ha!
The Easter bunny left Harlon a couple books,
A slinky, which apparently tastes good (who knew),
and finger paints!
We will give that project a try after naptime today. Can't wait for that mess!
That's it, now it's time to see if this slinky thing really works.
Well, it appears that our stairs are too wide even for a heavy metal slinky but it's still fun to play with!
Reading a new book with Daddy.
This is for you Nanny and Bop! He's getting really good at riding his hog...he can't quite figure out that he needs to turn the handle bars yet. But he loves it!
After breakfast (we had bacon, and toad in a hole eggs). Harlon likes to test his limits lately. Clearly by the look on his face he knows that he's not supposed to be standing up in his high chair.
I know my mom is laughing HARD at this one. He's looking over at me sitting on the couch for confirmation that he's not supposed to be standing, HA! I have my hands full! I love this little guy and all of his energy.
Then, we invited some of our fellow submariner families over for Easter dinner. Not a traditional one but we were in the mood for BBQ and it turned out delicious.
We had a little egg hunt on the deck and side yard for all of the kiddos. They were all so well behaved and cute running around like crazy.
Harlon had help figuring out what to do with the eggs and he caught on right away.
I used to tell myself that next year will be a normal holiday but I have learned to just embrace whatever comes our way. We had a great weekend and are so blessed with great people in our lives, where ever the Navy takes us.
